Bethany is originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She earned her Bachelor of Music Education degree from Baldwin-Wallace University and her Master of Music Education degree from Florida State University. Bethany teaches private music lessons and taught band classes in Colorado and Fort Myers schools.

Bethany really enjoys teaching private piano and band instrument lessons. She especially loves being able to give each student individualized attention and instruction. Bethany plays out with groups such as the Gulf Coast Symphony.

Dan K.

Daniel K. earned his Master of Music degree in ’88 from the New England Conservatory, (Jazz Studies), and is a former full-time professor for Berklee College of Music in Boston, from which he graduated Magna cum Laude in Applied Music. He has taught many hundreds of private lessons on saxophone, clarinet, flute, oboe, guitar, piano, and percussion. He wrote two books for private instruction, Articulation Essentials for all woodwinds, and Linear Tonalities for all treble clef instruments. A public school music teacher in the state of Massachusetts, and in Florida. 

Dan has a traditional teaching style and a strong desire to create new musicians. He is a little more Matter-of-fact than our other instructors and is best suited for serious students.
 
His musical career includes performing with many well-known artists over the years including Buddy Morrow, Ella Fitzgerald, Dennis Day, Maureen McGovern, Barbra McNair, Sherman Hemsley, Tiny Tim, Homer and Jethro, Joe Frazier, Little Anthony, and many well-known jazz performers. Dan is currently an in-demand regular performer in pit orchestras for shows with the Naples Players and Theatre Zone.

Joe H.

Joe is a multi-talented individual with diverse achievements across music, education, psychology, and academia. He studied music composition at FSU and The Prague Conservatoire, earning a bachelor's degree in psychology from FGCU. 

With 12 years of teaching music and over 20 years of industry experience, Joe brings a unique perspective to his lessons. He has toured with national acts, featured his compositions in various media, and spent a decade in event entertainment.

Joe's academic contributions include research published in the American Journal of Psychology. This background shapes his cognitive approach to teaching, emphasizing not just skill acquisition, but also instilling a love for the learning process.

Notably, Joe excels in teaching students with special needs, including ASD and Down's Syndrome. His expertise in this area ensures a tailored and empathetic approach to instruction.

Joe's passion for teaching and commitment to inclusive education makes him a valuable and inspiring instructor.

Earl S.

Earl is a music educator with over 20 years of experience. He holds a Bachelor's degree in music education with a vocal emphasis from Florida A and M University (2002) and a Master's degree in Music Education from the University of Florida (2010). 

Earl has served as a music director in ministry for 35 years. He has also served as music director for several productions including most recently Sistas the Musical, Avenue Q, and The Color Purple. Earl believes that music lessons should be fun incorporating the popular music his student enjoy as they learn to play Drums, Piano, or how to Sing. He is a member of Phi Mu Alpha SINFONIA, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and is a Prince Hall Mason.

Juan P.

Juan  started his musical education with guitar, piano, solfeggio, music theory, choir, and music history in the Vocational School of Arts. He graduated from the from the professional school of Music of Holguin in 1996 and Instituto Superior de Artes (University for the Arts) in 2002 in Havana. Since then, he has worked as a music teacher and professional musician, touring Cuba and Europe and playing in churches. Has played in concerts and music festivals, and received awards in international guitar contests – he says it's all because he loves the feeling of being on stage and worshiping God through music, as well as seeing the results of good work done by his students with his guidance.

He is always looking for new ways to grow as an educator and developing new curricula that are exciting for both students and parents alike. He teaches children, youths, and adults both advanced and beginning students. He can teach both in English and Spanish. He has an eclectic teaching style where he combines techniques from different countries and his own ideas developed through years of experience.  He is very proud that some of his former students are playing in professional bands, and others are now music teachers!

Lucille F.

Lucille Foster is an accomplished musician and teacher with an impressive list of achievements. She holds degrees from Edison College and Florida State University, where she played clarinet with the symphonic band and even joined them on tour. Lucille's musical talents didn't stop there, as she also played with the Fort Myers Symphony Orchestra and taught music in the Collier County School District. Her students won top awards at music contests under her guidance. Lucille directed the Lake Trafford Elementary School chorus and showcased her skills on both flute and clarinet with the Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra. In 2007, she led the chorus to a remarkable performance at the Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Center for a holiday concert.

Scott G.

Scott is a graduate of the Johns Hopkins University's Peabody Conservatory where he received his Bachelor of Music in classical guitar performance. While attending Peabody Conservatory he had the great honor to study with guitarists Manuel Barrueco, Julian Gray, and lutenist Ronn McFarlane. 

Before teaching at Fort Myers School of Music he was a faculty instructor at Howard Community College in Columbia Maryland where he taught private classical guitar lessons, class guitar, functional guitar for music therapy students, and guitar ensemble. Scott was the founder and director of the Gumbo Jam Bands; a multi-ensemble exploration of various styles including rock, pop, blues, bluegrass, country, and jazz tailored to local area musicians from the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area for over ten years. 

During his tenure at HCC, Scott was essential in the development and implementation of the AMTA-recognized Music Therapy program at HCC.

Scott has played many roles in his 35-year career dedicated to music. As an educator, director, performer, and multi-instrumentalist, his primary passion is the passing on of his knowledge to his students regardless of age or skill level. Mr. Goriup specializes in teaching to his student's goals and interests while exploring music in a fun and collaborative manner. He often incorporates ensemble opportunities into his lessons to keep the lessons fresh and creative. As a testament to his commitment to education, many of his students have received scholarships to prestigious musical institutions and have gone on to have successful musical careers. 

Scott is very familiar with special needs students and enjoys adapting the curriculum to meet their specific challenges.

Scott is an avid cyclist so don't be surprised if you pass by him riding his bicycle around town!

Alex is a seasoned musician who has been in the industry for over 20 years. He began his musical journey in music school, mastering the accordion and classical guitar, before transitioning to playing drums in rock and metal bands. Alex's love for music led him to become a jazz guitarist during his college years, and he has since performed with various professional pop and rock bands as a drummer, guitarist, and even as a singer in a church choir. He is also an expert in transcribing music and creating highly precise music scores.

But what truly sets Alex apart is his dedication to teaching. He believes in sharing his knowledge and experience with his students at the Fort Myers School of Music. Hannah is a professional freelance musician in Southwest Florida. Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she started her musical studies at the age of 5 with piano lessons. Being a child of two opera singers exposed her to many musical experiences including dancing ballet, performing in dramatic productions, singing in choirs, as well as studying multiple instruments. 

Hannah has a Bachelor of Music in Harp Performance from Baldwin Wallace Conservatory of Music and a Master of Music in Harp Performance from the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance. 

She teaches piano, ukulele, voice, and harp lessons.

"Ms. Jen" received the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award while still in high school. She studied music at the University of North Texas and the University of South Florida where she earned a Bachelor's degree of Music in Jazz Studies Performance.

Jennifer continues to perform with the Florida Orchestra, the SWFL Symphony, The Sarasota Orchestra, and The Marty Stokes Band, she also fills in for other groups as needed.

She has many years of experience teaching all genres of music.

Sean is a composer at heart. His parents purchased him a piano and by 13 he was winning regional piano competitions. At this age, he expanded his musical abilities and played guitar, bass, and drums.

Sean teaches classical, Rock, and jazz styles. He incorporates current music into his lessons often going as far as learning the student's favorite song (if he doesn't already know it) to use in the lessons. His focus on technique, not just musical knowledge, creates better musicians. 

Sean is active in the local music scene and has been a member of many successful local bands over the years.

Steve is a musician & creative artist with a diverse set of skills and experience. He graduated with a bachelor's in music composition from Baldwin Wallace University and composes orchestra music & electronic music. He has performed in classical and popular music groups on a variety of instruments. He has taught music lessons for 7 years and enjoys teaching classical, jazz, and pop music.

Steve uses a relaxed but goal-oriented teaching style to encourage all students to feel comfortable with their abilities but to push their boundaries to achieve new things. It is important to Steve that his students are introduced to many styles of music and they become aware of the endless possibilities music can lead to. He encourages students to excel on their instruments and also to explore their creativity by learning music theory and even writing their own songs/compositions. In his spare time, he enjoys cooking, watching movies, and hanging out with his cat.

Beth is a graduate of Stephans College and Indiana University with degrees in Music Education - with a piano concentration. She teaches in a very "motherly" style and her students love her as a teacher, so much so that her students often continue with lessons until they go to college. 

Beth has played professionally in Chicago, Atlanta, and here in Fort Myers. She has taught piano for many years both in the public school system and in private schools. Her students have been accepted into music programs at prestigious colleges. Several of her students are now piano instructors themselves! 

She enjoys teaching all ages and tailors the student's course of study for their enjoyment. She is experienced in teaching most genres of music.

Joanne holds a Batulers of Music and Master of Music degree from the Philadelphia Musical Academy. She was the accompanist at the Episcopal Academy where she worked with middle ad upper school choirs, musical productions, and chapel where she played the pipe organ. She has frequently performed with Brandywine a classical piano duo, and the Crystle Jazz Combo.

Many of her former students have been accepted to a prestigious music college, and many others are active in local theatre. She teaches all styles of music with an emphasis on a classical foundation.

Carlos was born in Havana Cuba and immigrated to Miami when he was a child. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Music Education and a Masters degree in Computer Science. He is certified to teach K-12.

Carlos taught music in Miami public schools for 14 years and 15 years for the New York City Department of Education. He has over 20 years of experience as a Music Minister and director for various congregations. 

He enjoys teaching private lessons in English or Spanish as well as private musical coaching. He has a quiet personality that allows his passion for making music shine in others and helps shyer children excel.

Colette J

Colette is an avid lover of music, a teacher of music, and a professional musician. She now has 40 years of experience in vocal and instrumental instruction for various age groups and learning levels, as well as performing professionally in voice, piano, and guitar. 

Colette earned a Bachelor’s degree from Morehead State University in music education; a piano major and voice minor, also studying acoustic guitar, jazz, choral conducting, music arranging, and composition.  Her Master’s degree in music education is from Eastern Kentucky University. Her doctoral work at the University of Kentucky gave her the opportunity to learn and explore in-depth vocal techniques and develop a new focus on the deep connections between music and literacy, both with language and math. 

Colette enjoyed performing in a top hits multi-genre cover band, Paradox, with her bass-playing husband, while she played keyboard, guitar, and sang lead vocals.

Colette is passionate about finding the best way for each student to learn and succeed.  She has many years of experience in both public and private schools; elementary, middle school, high school, and college. Her teaching experience at the University of Kentucky, and as a professor at Berea College, gave her the deepest insight into successful vocal techniques, as well as led her back to teaching all age levels, one on one. She is also an advocate for teaching those with different learning styles. Usually labeled as disabilities, Ms. Colette prefers to view them as different abilities, seeking the best way for each student to learn. She enjoys all styles of music and encourages students to pursue what they love while exploring new genres.

Tara began her musical career in 4th grade as a trumpet player. In High School, she was constantly first and second chair and played in both Concert and Jazz band. 

She then made a move to the bright lights of the entertainment capital of the world, Las Vegas, Nevada pursuing her passion for singing. At the age of 25 and was fronting rock-n-roll bands. Singing professionally was a dream come true!

Tara then went on to revolutionize the DJ industry by mixing and singing to backing tracks while she would DJ, learning the art of “Harmonic“ DJing that brought her numerous awards; from the coveted “Pioneer” award for being one of the first female DJ’s to many other awards including “Best Karaoke Show” and “Las Vegas Favorite Female DJ.” 

Tara got her degree in music studying vocals, piano, and trumpet at CCSD in Las Vegas. 

Tara has plenty of professional stage and entertainment experience at high-profile events such as the RocknRoll Marathon Las Vegas where she opened for major celebrity acts ( Kesha, Life Is Beautiful, iHeart events, etc.) as well as having been flown around the country to entertain for major corporate clients such as Coca-Cola, Wet N Wild, Harrahs VIP, Circus Circus, Ballys, Hard Rock, Paris, Forum Shops, Tropicana, and Caesars properties.

Alex studied music at the Los Andes University in Venezuela, and pipe organ from Father Jose Maria. He has been writing and performing live his music since 1982.

Alex can teach in English and Spanish a lot of different styles of music including Metal, Rock, Blues to Latin Bolero, and is well-versed in Pop and Folk as well as international styles. He feels that “Every Student is Different so using the same book or teaching technique is not effective for everyone.” He, therefore, creates a unique curriculum for each student.

Heidi L

Heidi has a very outgoing personality and is often accompanied by her puppy Gershwin! She is the perfect teacher for those students who require a little more stimulation during the lesson. She often plays duets with her students at lessons an recitals.

Heidi began studying piano at the young age of six, and ranked 2nd place in the State competition for the Ohio Federation of Music Clubs by the age of sixteen. She holds B.A. in Piano Performance from Southeastern University. After receiving her degree she studied for four years with jazz piano Steven Van Loozenoord, and is currently working on her Master's in Piano Performance at the University of South Florida in Tampa. She has studied under instructors such as Dr. Robert Marler, Dr. Robert Ruckman, and Dr. Young-ah Tak.  

Heidi participated in the Keyboard Festival at First Assembly of God for seven years, an event that was broadcasted on The Christian Television Network and had an in-person attendance of about 10,000 over the course of a weekend each year. For seven years she was on staff at Faith United Methodist Church as a pianist, and the accompanist for local vocalists.

Sally J.

From the age of 3, Sally has spent her life learning, performing, and teaching music. Her studies began with Betty Haig and the Chicago Suzuki Institute. As a teen and young adult she attended various summer music festivals in Brevard NC, Killington, VT, and Hot Springs, AK. She studied under Valerie Adams and Carolyn Stuart at the University of South Florida, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance.


Sally began her career as a professional violinist and violist in Florida performing with various solo acts the likes of Sarah Brightman, STYX, Peter Cetera, and many more. She toured with several Broadway musicals such as Lion King, South Pacific, and the King and I., she also worked regularly with the Sarasota Orchestra, Naples Philharmonic, Southwest Florida Symphony, and Opera Tampa. In 2010 and earned the concertmaster position with the Glacier Symphony and the Festival Amadeus Orchestra in Kalispell, MT. As well as holding positions with the String Orchestra of the Rockies, Great Falls Symphony, Bozeman Symphony Orchestra, and Helena Symphony.


Sally played many outreach concerts at local and rural schools, sat on the Board of Directors of a music school in the state of Montana, and directed her home studio. She is certified in Suzuki ECC, Kindermusik, and is a current member of FSMTA. She strives to help students develop their love of music by molding lessons and repertoire based on each individual student. Sally understands each student is unique and will benefit from flexibility in expectations and methodology.
